News

Thank you once again for taking my call on Friday evening and apologies for taking so long to email you since then.

As discussed, Breakthrough Cancer Research are one of the Tier 2 Charity Beneficiaries of this year’s Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle.

This fantastic opportunity will help raise a minimum of €10,000 to support our life-saving cancer research programmes and we are very excited to be a part of such a great event.

We must however contribute a number of resources to support the logistics, safety and overall success of the event taking place on 1st July in Killarney, Co. Kerry.

Along with medical support, bike mechanics and other general stewards we need to provide a number of cycle marshals to help maintain the road safety and stop any messing on the road with 10,000 cyclists taking part. If you or any of your club members are interested in taking part can you please let me know the names, addresses, mobile numbers and email of each person.

I will then forward to the cycle marshal co-ordinator and will follow up with phone call to ensure you are happy and able to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.

Please note that cycle marshals must still register at a reduced rate of €50 (full price is €100). Once I have given the names to the cycle marshal co-ordinate he will give a special discount code which can be used through the ROK website. Each marshal will be given a special marshal jersey and marshal bike tag to make them easily identifiable on the road to other cyclists.

Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.

In the meantime, in case you are not familiar with the work we do please have a look at our short video:

AGM 11 January 2017

Main topics of discussion for 2017.

At the annual meeting last Wed it was proposed that over the coming cycling season we take on different challanges to the usual cycles by commencing them from locations away from the city.

This table of events is not set in stone and could  be subject to change for reasons such as unsuitable weather forecasts or other reasons and is meant only to be a guideline.

As you can see we have booked the cottages at the Kenmare Bay for two Kenmare weekend three day cycles.
Closer to the dates i will be inviting members to book their accommodation for these weekends.

Proposed Cycling dates and locations for 2017…
